Job Description

You’ll be able to contribute a lot to various projects spanning our global payments network in this capacity. Your proficiency in building, developing, and engineering payment systems—gateway, acquiring, issuing, or equivalent—is much appreciated. You’ll acquire a thorough understanding of the Visa and Mastercard payment networks if you don’t already know. We welcome cooperation with the payments product team and sporadic communication with our partners’ engineering teams.

Responsibilities:
Design and implement new capabilities aligned with our product roadmap
Develop various REST services and integration components within a backend microservices architecture, connecting with our React frontend
Conduct architectural reviews for current and upcoming solutions
Address tech debt, and enhance operational effectiveness

Who you are
We’re looking for people who meet the minimum qualifications for this role. The preferred qualifications are great to have but are not mandatory.

Minimum qualifications:
Over 5 years of expertise in contemporary engineering methodologies, emphasizing continuous integration and quality engineering.
Possesses robust computer science fundamentals, with a recent focus on Java or Kotlin, Spring / Spring Boot technologies.
Specialized in designing and constructing REST APIs, adept in handling high-volume distributed systems, Kafka event streams, and distributed data storage systems such as Cassandra, Hazelcast, Oracle Coherence, or similar technologies.
Demonstrated proficiency in cloud platforms like GCP or AWS (EC2, RDS, ELB, CloudFront), along with exposure to containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
Skilled in Javascript / Typescript and well-versed in operational tooling, including but not limited to New Relic, StatsD, Elk, Datadog, and Prometheus.

Preferred qualifications:
Extensive experience in the development of payment gateways, acquiring platforms, or issuing platforms
Expertise in integrating Local Payment Methods (i.e., iDeal, Klarna, Trustly) or major Cards (i.e., Visa, Mastercard)
